Top Knot

The Top Knot is perfect for student living. It's great for hiding messy hair and is easy and quick. All you need is a hair tie and some hair grips to hold it in place. It is best when you slightly mess it up by pulling at loose strands of hair. Here is a link showing you how to do the perfect top knot and is just a generally great site for hair inspiration ...

Make or customise

If you are lacking money, making clothes is really quite fun. You can design it exactly how you want it, choose the fabrics and it's very often cheaper. If you really don't feel comfortable making a whole garment you can always customize things. You can buy beautiful lace trims to add to hems on clothes from material shops or replace buttons to make things look more expensive.

Shoes on sale

Shoe bargain of the century. These shoes where only £12.00 on the Zara sale. There a great buy as they are on trend and super comfy (well as comfy as a heel can be) Top tip: I often find some great shoes in the sales at topshop, asos, kurt geiger and zara so if you are a student on a budget try and hold out for the sales.

Charity Shop finds

Charity shops are a great place to get some really cheap yet surprisingly trendy clothing. I have found some really lovely pieces that are sooooooo cheap. For instance 1960's heavily beaded top...£5.00, navy spotted top...£5.50 and mossy coloured wool jumper...£4.00. They also have some great structered pieces and I even found an Aquascutum blazer.
